children as soldiers in the american civill war?

what are some good reasons on why kids shouldn't be soldiers or etc. in the american civil war (1861-1865)? I have a few reasons but i don't think they are too convincing..lol

Why they SHOULDN'T? Because they might get killed, same as any war. There must be something else you mean about this.

Some remarkably young people did in fact fight in the war. I am not certain but that the scene in Gone With the Wind might be real, where the cadets of a military academy went out to fight the Yankees in the last ditch stand of the south. I know the photos by Matthew Brady show some remarkably young-looking soldiers, early teens at best, and there are Civil War diaries that record very young soldier's thoughts. Some were so young they could barely write, although of course, that was often true of the older men as well.

Remember that a Civil War ends up involving just about everyone in the area where the fighting goes on. So does every war to the extent they are victims, but I mean fighting. Women and children will take up guns if they are fighting for their own survival.
