on the legend of zelda for nitendo 64 how do you get pass the water temple?

so please help me i need to get pass this part ii got the compus and the dugeon map and i got a key and stuff like that so can you please help me

Take out your sword of antheon and chop down the tree just off to the right. Climb on it and talk to the squirrel. The squirrel will ive you the magic incantation to walk on water. Good luck.
