how do i get a printer hooked up to a laptop??

I think what you mean to ask is in reference to an older parallel port printer since most laptops lack that port.
If that is the case you will need an adapter like this one :

Turn off your laptop. Hook up all the wires from your printer. Power on the Ptr and then power on your laptop. I should recognize the new hardware (ptr).
If not, go to START button, Printers and Faxes, and add your printer. You will need the CD that came with your printer if your printer is not listed. Follow the installation prompts.

the software will have to be installed on the computer for the computer to work with the printer!!
1 - Go to Printers
2 - Add A New Printer
3 - Browse for your laptop

you need the cd that came with the printer to download the program then plug the printer into the ellectric outlit and one plug into the side of your lasbtop

Just connect it just the way you would do to a laptop. Connect the USB or parallel Port, Install the software and your done.

same way you would on a desktop. plug in the usb & install the drivers from a cd, or download them from the company's website.
