No... I don't think he should be fired. What he said was wrong, but he shouldn't be fired for that. People have a lot of opinions on various topics, such as sexuality, race, abortion, guns, etc, and not everyone is going to think alike. If he was to be fired, then all everyone should be fired with different opinions. You can't all think the same. All we can do is educate people so that they don't say stupid and hurtful things. People should control what they say, so they don't hurt people.

What is the bigger question is the fact that he would make a statement in such a public forum? He has to realize that there are powerful homosexuals in the TV and Film community. Outside of Grey's Anatomy, who is going to hire him for any major roles? Maybe being an actor, he has to answer the,"Are you gay?" question all the time. Maybe all this Macho crap, is to dispel any rumors otherwise. This will probably have the opposite effect. If you are comfortable with your sexuality, straight or gay, you do not have to prove anything to anyone. Me thinks he does protest too much. Just using the word "f****t" is only for the shock value and nothing more, like other derogatory words used to describe other people that I refuse to repeat. Should he get fired, well yes. Not just because of this one event, but the disrupted nature he is causing on the set of Grey's Anatomy. The irony in this, is the fact I think he is a pretty good actor. It is amazing for me to see that someone with his talent would do something so stupid to sabotage his own career.

I don't think he should be fired. He seems like a jerk in real life but I still love Burke. They have reprimanded him and he's in counseling. I think he realizes how stupid it was to say what he said.

Besides... he has to marry Cristina!

If he is fired it will probably be for him being physically violent, not for his homophobic remarks. They could say because he has a history of violence and the cast feels unsafe on set. I don't think he should be fired, but maybe they should leave him out of a few episodes so he can get his act together and stop being a jerk! There are tons of actors who would have loved that role and he needs to be reminded that he CAN be replaced.

I think that had Dempsey or Dane said anything even remotely close to what he said they would have already been fired. the only reason he hasn't been and likely won't be fired is that he is black.
That said I think the entire show sucks beyond words and I wouldn't shed a tear if it were cancelled tomorrow

I don't watch the show but I do believe revenge is sweet.

I say they turn his character into a gay man. Then he'll have to feel what it is like when others turn on him. He needs to personalize his actions. Sure he's going to work with GLAAD and other gay/lesbian groups but I'm sure its just an act.

As for firing, someone else will nab him for something else and there really won't be a significant consequence.

I think he shouldnt have let the argument get so far, but he shouldnt be fired over it! i absolutely think that he should not have to go to the gay alliance committee or whatever and have a "talk". People say mean things sometimes....GET OVER IT.
Burke and christina make such a cute couple, i would hate to see him leave.

He will not be fired unless he does it again. He is in rehab for this. he has made an apology. There is no more he can do.

NO I DON'T THINK HE SHOULD BE FIRED FOR SAYING THAT. WHAT HAPPENED TO FREEDOM OF SPEECH. SO IS IT THAT WE DON'T HAVE TO SAY WHAT IS ON OUR MIND? DO WE HAVE TO WATCH WHAT WE SAY NOW? IF THAT IS HOW HE FEELS LET HIM DO WHAT EVER HE WANTS. ONE DAY HE WILL REALIZE WHAT HE SAID WAS WRONG. WE DON'T HAVE TO REMIND HIM. LET HIM THINK FOR MOMENT.
