I had a c-section on Dec. 14th. I had lochia for about a month, then a brown discharge that was real thick, with some clots in it. I assumed this was maybe a menstrual cycle. But about two days after that stopped, I had a huge gob of clear mucus come out in the shower, and am now leaking this thick clear mucus. Did anyone else experience this after having a c-section? Or maybe is it me ovulating? I didn't get the thick mucus when ovulating before I was pregnant, I usually could tell by a few sharp cramps in my ovaries. I'm also finding it hard to have a BM too in the last few days. Is it all related? I was breastfeeding for a few weeks but got sick and dried up, so the baby is on formula only and has been for about 2 weeks now. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I had the same experience after my c-section... and it turned out to be totally normal.. give it a few days, and it should get better... I only went through all that for about 2 weeks after mine, but everyone is diff.. And I breastfed for about a month, but it didn't work out.. I was also constipated for awhile, which was extremely uncomfortable... Just keep an eye on your cut and make sure it is not leaking pus or is really red and irritated.. that is a sign of an infection, also try stool softeners, it helped me a lot... The doc should have talked to you before you went home about all this.. It will be uncomfortable, for you for sometime, because with all the stuff they moved around and shifted in your stomach, it can take a while to get everything working properly again... If you get too concerned call the ER and ask an OB nurse.. they can give you more info.. Congrats on the new baby, and take care.....
PS.. I didn't get my first period until my baby was 14 weeks old...

first of all vaginal delivery is no more "normal" than a c-section. A c-section is major abdomianl surgery. You do not just get some meds and are "fine" The recovery from a c-section is far more than 2 weeks. Going to the bathroom is just as painful after a c-section and passing a bm is far worse. Where in the world did you ever get the idea a c-section was easy? You are very misinformed. - mom of 3 with # 4 on the way........... BTW I have had 2 c-sections and another expected in March,.

The BM problem is absolutely related! I had to go to the ER and stay overnight my problem was so bad! C-sections are major abdominal surgery, which slow the intestines and make BM difficult but surgeons tend to ignore this fact unless you ask and unless you've experienced it, why would you even think about it? I would try a strong laxative since, if you let it go too long, you'll need the ER. I let it go a week.
The mucus could be ovulation. Things change after you've been pregnant, but I'm not sure. Maybe not. I'd ask the doc. Congratulations!

I wouldn't be too worried about it, but it might be a good idea to bump up you next visit to the doctors too a bit sooner than the normal next check. A lot of it is probably just your body healing. It is a major surgery after all. /throw in that your drying up your hormones are all out of wack, and your body hasn't gone thru a menstrual cycle in about 10 months. Doctor will most likely tell you to keep an eye on it and if it doesn't get worse see you on your scheduled visit. hope this helps a little.

I had a c-section and I didn't have any of that. I did have difficulty with my bm for about 8 wks after I delivered before it got normal bm again but as for the mucous I have no idea. I would call your drs office and just ask it can't hurt.

I had a c-section and didn't have anything like that. As for the BM take stool softners I started taking them when I was still in the hospital and thanked god I did. They help so much when passing a BM for the first time after your surgery.....

all of those months you went with out a period, your body is now paying for it.,i think it's just your body,s hormones reacting to having a baby and then not having to produce milk, if you have any doubts at all see a doctor
