1. reversible reaction: This is called reversible because no effort is needed to change the product back into its reactants; it happens spontaneously. this is pretty common in organic reactions, in which usually a proton is being added or removed. Since this is relatively easy to do, it often is reversible.

2. Dissolveing is a surface reation, meaning that the reaction taking place only happens on the surface of the crystal where the crystal is making contact with the solution. therefore, more surface area (smaller crystals) would mean faster dissolving.
