The best concert I ever went to was my first concert. If you think about it, the first time you ever do anything or go anywhere is always the best.

It was 1988 and the venue was the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, Connecticut. The band...AC/DC. I was 16 years old, and in those days they held a lottery system for the tickets and we got there very early. Somehow, by some miracle, we were chosen 2nd and had front row seats right in the middle of the stage. Angus Young blew my mind, and I've been a fan ever since.

Jimi Hendrix - twice. One of the guitar icons of my generation.

Edgar Winter Group - what a keyboard/sax player!

Wings - McCartney's artistry and incredible effects.

Doobie Bros. - twice. What needs to be said?

Steely Dan & Michael McDonald - for a jazz lover it was incredible.

Leo Kottke - another incredible guitarist. Just Leo, his guitars, and a circus tent. Timeless.

George Benson - another great pop jazz artist, accompanied by some real jazz heavyweights.

Santana & John McLaughlin - guitar heaven

Allman Bros - solid country rock. Solid.

Once Stephen Tyler winked at me and then spit his bottled water on me.
Not real sure if that was meant to be enjoyable or not...but it was certainly memorable.
I think the best concert I've ever been to as far as the energy and the visual entertainment was Prince. He's a little rockin' thing.
Also I think my next choice would be (ironically) George Clinton.
He could barely hobble across the stage he's so old, but they all had soooo much energy flowing around that place! "Diaper man " of course was there and that was hilarious, too.
