the reason why he put it on was because he was getting errors coming up as his free trial with norton was coming to an end, so he thought that he would use the same one that i use,i did not know he was doing this as i was at work.

I think you have to buy a new lisence.
If you don't want to do that, you can create a network with the two computers and use one to fix the other.

Those programs are only meant for one use. The second use loses something in the translation, so to speak. I use AVG Free Edition 7.5 anti virus software from Grisoft.com. It is great. If you use it properly, get the updates 2 times a week, it's really good. But since this edition has no firewall for spyware, I use SpyBot Search & Destroy, which is also free, and again, when used as it says to, it will scan for, name, and get rid of spyware for you. I run a manual scan once a week of the whole computer. Hope this helps. Good luck on your upcoming marriage.

You cant just uninstall Norton from Add & Remove Programs; you need a special tool to do it which you get from the Symantec website.
You are also not supposed to install it on more than one machine unless the licence agreement you paid for is multi use.
Your b/f should have just renewed the subscription on his version. Or uninstalled it and switched to a freeware anti virus.
Theres a list of free software on ym 360 blog (click on my picture and follow the link from my profile page.)

I'd dump Norton, it's terribly resource heavy & not too efficient. Instead, download either AVG or Avast, both very good, frequently updated and above all free!
And if you don't have malware software, Ad-Aware SE Personal is free too.
By the way, to properly uninstall Norton go to Symantec's wbesite for a dedicated removal tool, made for the job.

Yes you can, but.....
The trouble with Norton is that you have to subscribe to get updates. I've always found it to slow the system down a lot too.
Try AVG Antivirus - there is a free version, which allows free daily updates etc - I've installed it on allthe family PCs (5!) , and the one at work.

Legally, probably not. But it's possible. If you want another free option you could use AVG Free edition. It works great for me.
