Shopping for slippers in India?

I am going to India next month and I love the beaded slippers (shoes) for women. I am curious how much they run in the small shops where you negotiate with the shopkeeper. What would be my "best price" on a pair of fancy shoes and what would be too high? I am also interested in scarves and small purses for gifts.

Yes, I am going to both Chennai adn Bangalore as well as Dehil. What would you consider too high a price for these shoes?

In small shops , you should get a pair of beaded slippers for 100 Rs. but then dont buy from road side, as they do not have good quality, anyways, dont go beyond 250 Rs for them.
silk scarves would be for 200 Rs.
small purses would be from 300-500 Rs.

Hi,
It depends to which place in India you are going.If it is Bangalore you can go to Jayanagar 4Th Block shopping complex or Gandhi Bazzar in Basanvangudi(area Name).The prices range from 250 rs to max you want and in Chennai you try Spencer Plaza and also Parry's(old Chennai) you get good things in this areas and In Hyderabad it is in Sultant Bazzar and Abids area and also In secunderabad Paradise hotel area.In pune it is Laxmi Bazzar and Somawarpeth.
