First of all, you have to act very maturely about this. If you start to whine she's not going to do anything for you.
What I suggest is that you let her help you set it up. Then your mom will know the password and can check up on you when she needs to. You may think this would be an invasion of privacy and what-not, but if you're really nod doing anything you're not supposed to, it's not that bad. Also, have your mom set up certain rules about it, and you should follow them.

I agree with the person that said you should tell her you will set it to private and give her your password so she can go in and check what you have been doing on the my space. Also you might incourage her to have her own myspace with you as a link.

Your mother is just trying to protect you, many teenagers and children are harmed every year and about half the cases can be linked directly to my space. Your mother has to be able to help you with this area of your life. I know it seems unfair but in the long run it is safter, but danger can be prevented if you ask her to take the password. Be sure and let her know when you change it too, because it is safer to keep changing your password every once in a while.

I'm a mother, first off you must be at least 14 to legally own an account on myspace. I you are at least 14, I would suggest that you give her your password so she can have full access at any time. If you really aren't doing things you ought not do, then this should be ok. It's not just you though, it's your "friends" on myspace that might post certain obscene or vulgar "stuff". She'll be able to check your blogs and delete friends she feels may be hazardous to your well being. (so to speak) Ask her if she is willing to do this with those terms. Password and delete privilage. gl

She's just concerned for your safety. Even if you don't give out personal information on your account it's real easy for a hacker or pedophile who has the brains to hack into your my space account and find out where you live. Tell her you'll set your profile to private and you'll give her your password and log in ID and let her go into your account and make sure nothing is going on.

listen to your mom she know what's best for you. You might say that wont do anything wrong but you have a lot of perverts out there just waiting to there chance to take you away once you've let down your guard. Please listen to your mom she know about these things because she was here before you and she knows whats right.

Let her watch you make it. Give her the link to it, and give her your password on the agreement that she check it whenever she wants, and if you change the password there will be consequences. If she finds 1 thing she doesn't approve of, you delete it... I think that's fair enough.

My kids will never be allowed to have a my-space account. It's just a trashy website in my opinion, and not appropriate for kids. Kudos to your mom for being on top of things. She just cares about you and is being responsible. Sorry!
