5x - 6 = 2x +5
5 x = 2x + 5 +6
5x = 2x + 11
5x - 2x = 11
3x = 11
x = 11/3 = 1 2/3

5x-6=2x+5. The first thing you do is subtract 2x from both sides. Then it equals 3x-6=5 then Add 6 to both sides. That equals 3x=11 so now you divide by 3 and that equals x=11/3.

x=11/3. to get this, you put all the x's on one side, and all the regular numbers on one side. so: subtract 2x from both sides, which gives you 3x and 0x, then add 6 to both sides, which gives you 0 and 11. so then: 3x=11. so divide 11 by 3, thus x=11/3. Good luck with all the future problems! :)
Mike T. did it wrong, so don't listen to him. hee added 2x instead of subtracting it. :(
