It would depend on the ashma. If it is really bad... NO! You will kill him slowly
If it is light and controlled by medicine. Yes. But you will still have to take precautions.
Get a baby ferret and train it for baths. Ferrets LOVE water so this will be easy. Bath you Ferret Regularly and it will minamize ITs Dander.
Next, train the Ferret to use a litter box and NOT bedding. Ferrets can be trained liked Cats for litter boxes. This means less accum ulation of hair and dust in one place.
really, the decision would depend on your POP.

Ferrets can very succesfully kept outside in a hutch like rabbits or guinnea pigs. So as long as your dad doesn't go playing with them and you don't leave them in the house too long he should be ok. He might be ok with them anyway. My friend has ashma and keeps Rabbits and Cats.

If pet dander is one of his asthma triggers, then it depends on how severe it is. A ferret is a lot smaller than a cat or dog, so will obviously have less dander to circulate in the air; especially if it is caged.

I have 4 ferrets and 5 cats and asthma - no problem. It all depends on what triggers the asthma; for me it's aerosol spray.

If it is asthma, then yes, it should be fine. If you're confused and it's "allergies" then you should go with a chinchilla, they're hypoalergenic.
