I know what I have to do in order to establish a group at my school but I have never been to an Al-anon meeting. I need to know what I would have to do to meet thier requirements.

If you get in touch with the headquarters of A.A. they will send you a package with all the info you nneed to hold your first meeting.All you really need is a nutral place to hold it. It's not recomended to use our homes. I started an S.I.A. group simply because I really needed one. The first week we had 15, the second week we had 50 ! And 15 years later that group is still going strong ! I find that old timers will join your group often to keep doing their 12th. step of helping others. Good Luck !

Go online and contact Al-anon. First you should probably attend a few meetings to see how they are conducted and what is expected of you. It requires planning and what you can do is find some others who are currently in a group and start by getting their phone number finding a sponsor, and getting active in another group first. I don't think that starting a group without having ever attended a meeting is a very good idea. How would you even know whether or not this would be something that could work for you. Maybe think about just working as a support group with others that are dealing with the disease of alcoholism through codependence. Find a facilitator who will help. I just would try and join another group for now as what you are proposing is a rather large undertaking for one person who has no experience. I personally don't think this would be doable at this point.

You neeed to go to an Al-anon meeting and see how the meetings are run. You should also contact your local Al-Anon intergroup office and they can tell you how to go about starting a group. But why would you want to start an Al-Anon meeting unless you are an Al-Anon member and/or need to be in meetings. They are held by actual members and won't appreciate it very much if you don't belong there and just wanted to start a meeting. It would be like a non-alcoholic trying to start an AA group. It just doesn't work that way. But more power to you if you are a member or do belong in the meetings.

The best way to find out would be to contact Al Anon, they will help you and give you all the training and info you need; Its quite involved and you cant just "open up", there are sorts of technicalities you will need to deal with.
Anyway Al Anon should be your first contact point;
