Hi guys, thanks for trying to help. I've just got talk talk broadband, finally installed the software, I'm running windows ME unfortunately instead of XP, and although I run the software all through, and it says setup complete, when I try to connect to the net it just tries to use my old dial up, and under list of connections my new talk talk account isn't there. Very annoying. please help me! Thanks guys.

Is this cable or DSL??? First of all I suggest you upgrade ME to Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP (Home/Pro/Media Center/Black they are all fine). Because Windows ME is the most unstable OS in Windows history, if possible attempt to degrade to Windows 98SE becaus that is the most Stable OS in history. Then try it becaus ME has many problem identifing and installing new hardware.

I just looked at the website and for sure you'll need windows 2000 or XP to use that service
anything older is not supported
in fact Me is not even supported by Microsoft anymore as of July 2006

Try to read the CD-rom label of the modem device driver. Does it say that it is only for Windows XP, or does it say that it support Windows '98 as well?.

If you don't have the modem device driver for Windows'98, you might need to download the driver from the modem company's website.

Suggestions---- In control panel go to system, click, go to hard ware, click on device manager, scroll to see if you have a yellow mark at network connections if so click on network connections and you should get a box telling you if you have a problem and you can trouble shoot it and update drivers----well that is how in xp but if you want to up grade to xp make sure you have enough memory as xp can eat into it quite a bit and slooowww it down.
