Ok granted watching a movie or sporting event on a nice tv is nice. Big tv, nice picture, I get it its better than older small TVs. But I'm talking about those people that will sit there and talk about the resolution and how real the grass and trees look, will sit there and just in absolute amazement like its something they have never seen before. If your watching a sporting event, do we really need to see the individual blades of grass, and the beads of sweat coming off the atheletes, the texture of the ball. If you want to look at a grass or trees you could just go out side and look real grass and real trees, take a look at a real ball yourself? whats the resolution of real things in real life, i bet its higher than 1080p? Why do people need this level of detail on a tv?

Why do people need TV at all? I guess "more is more."

Good Q. I have an analogy.

Indulge me,,,, thanks.

At the advent of Color TV, my uncle Charlie bought a Sylvania set. Blonde wood finish, very expensive, all the "bells and whistles" for the 50's.

He was, like I am, a contractor, among other things and could afford it, as well as having a basement finished to the point of being glamorous.

Saturday nights, any family local to Charlie would rush to his house, and be welcomed. All would congregate on what I can only describe as an OUTDOOR glider type sofa, and the surrounding floor, for uncle Charlie to ceremoniously open the doors that hid the TV screen; rather large for the day.

He effected pomp and circumstance in a self absorbed manner to turn on the TV, and all sat at the "edge" waiting. As it happened "ED Sullivan" was the program of choice, and IN COLOR.

As the TV hummed and tweaked into the image, all sat in awe, even shouting AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW WOW, as the screen showed wide stripes of RED, BLUE, and GREEN, horizontally. "DANG Charlie" I gotta get me one of these" was a common comment,,,Smiles.

Now, with all that said, TV for me is like "Abien" and when I want to "fall out"; sleep, all I need do is click the remote, and I'll be out in less time than it takes to run a "sleep aid" commercial.

HDMI cable costs greater...it is approximately $50 for a 6 footer....i could say the image high quality is larger than with a widespread connector. in case you will placed money into HD you need to to boot spring for the stable cable that provides you a bigger sign. The bomb is once you have HD sign each of how...then you definately truly see the fee of having an HD set. case in point, once you're gazing a DVD....the image readability is a lot greater desirable than a tube television.

Because the way their eyes perceive the world in its low definition color bores them.

It's due to their poor eye sight that a high def screen seems amazing.

People are amazed by this because they can't afford it.
As long as humans are around, they will try to make advances in technology. The more advanced, the more amazing it is.
