Girlfriend I hear ya. I am a die hard 80s hair band kinda gal and I get ostracized for listening the Crue, RATT and all my other 80s faves. They had it all...attitude, gave us some awesome music, delivered me through my teenage years and damn some of them were so hot!!
Thanks for the memories guys!!

Hair Bands got old because everyone was doing it, then Grunge came along. Nirvana sprang up and BOOM no one had ever heard it before, it was new, it was cool and so in with grunge and out with hair bands, whats new right now will eventually be done by everyone get old, and someone will come out with something fresh and new and that will start a new style. Eventually.... hair band music may come back. If you will notice right now there is a rise in the Indie scene. Bands with "The" in their name trying to be as original sounding as possible. Its going out of that back into the phsycodelic rock of the late 70's. Take for example the band Wolfmother - they have sparked the sound of Ledd Zeppelin back in the main stream. Eventually someone will go back to the sound of one of your hair bands.

They only disappeared with the latest trends. As soon as something else new and exciting came around, everybody was on the next bandwagon. But their albums are still out there. Bring it back into style, dude. Let people listen to it who you would never think of as listening to that kind of stuff. It might not make a big comeback, but at least more people will be educated in the godparents of metal.

Like everything in youth culture, the fashion for "hair bands" has gone out of style. But everything cycles and recycles, so who knows the "big haired men" of rock may become fashionable again.

Alternative became the dominating factor with than just grunge involved, and they might have been talented but the only lasting glam metal groups are Guns and Roses and Motley Crue.

It's because of all the "no drugs" campaigns.
Without the drugs, many can't keep up with the tempo and can't understand what they are screaming into the mic.
