I just give a big smile to my wife... ;)
I personally relieve stress (keep in mind that one size does not fit all) by identifying the cause(s), then formulating a plan to reduce the stress. For example, I take night classes and I have problems retaining what I learn from week to week. I do quick reviews on Friday and Saturday to help retain what I learn, thus reducing memory loss. Another example would if I have guests visiting, and I'm stressing over the state of my home and yard, I increase my workload at home during the week before a visit.
1. Identify cause of stress. 2. Formulate a plan to address cause. 3 Enact the plan as soon as possible.
If the cause of the stress is beyond your control, for example, you worry about invaders from outerspace, well, you've just got to distract yourself with sports or hobbies. Since you are considering the voilent approach, get yourself a light punching bag that you can wail on. You're less likely to break your hand on a 30 lb bag.

Neither of them. I used to feel that way but now I embrace what stresses me then let it go since I have no control of whatever it may be. I try to make the best of what I can and enjoy it anyway since I want a positive experience and its more pleasant. I try to do this. And if I find I can't deal with it I'd have to be in a different setting or shift my focus on the positive. Sometimes I'd take my anger out on a hard game of basketball or tennis. Other times I'm just plain angry at people or either indulge myself in food until time passes and its a lot better.

Actually...releasing stress in a violent manner can raise your aggression level, which could potentially add more stress to your life. Working out through jogging or playing sports can be a great release. Simply engaging in an activity you enjoy and find relaxing can do the trick.

Boxing or martial arts, you get to fight someone with consent. It's an excellent release.
