United States has a strong policy against drug importation - which should make sense as it provides a certain filter against everything that's out there. But many countries (Israel, Russia, China) that don't have such restrictions also don't seem to experience any problems with imported drugs. Their low drug prices decrease interest for attempts to sell low quality products into the market.

So, is U.S. overly concerned with its Highly Overpriced drug-making business or What? What is your opinion?

The answer is obviously a huge YES: the big Healthcare Companies (especially Drug Manufacturers) are mainly concerned with making as much Profit as they can. They have powerful Lobby's loaded with money in Wash. D.C. "buying" our Congress and our Government in general, to block much needed Reform of our entire Healthcare System. The Republicans are especially culpable for blocking Healthcare Reform. Remember the "Hatchet Job" they did on the Clintons' attempt to Replace and Reform the System with their plan for a Universal Coverage, Government run Healthcare System. It would have worked !!! And saved hundreds of thousands of lives. To get real reform and relief, we must elect a Democratic Congress AND President in 2008. The Republicans just don't care about the people of America. They represent the rich Corporations and rich "ruling class" of this Nation. And that is another "unpleasant truth" we need a Documentary Movie on.

Depends on who you ask

if you check you will see that countries w/o restrictions only import from those with restrictions

also many companies run clinical trials after a product is on the market when problems are found with their meds.

example-the new ovarian cancer prevention pill-they are giving it to young girls in NJ i believe for free who receive public assistance-in essence they are being allowed to conduct a trial where the recipients are forced to participate. Just like what they did with foster children in NY, CT, VT and eight other states. It amounts to allowing drug manufacturers to run free clinical trials without paying participants and the goverment reaps the benefits
