Xbox live is not free it's $50 for 13 months. While online you can play up to 23 other people at one time.

It is only free the first month and if you get cards for free months, other than that no. you have to purchase a subscription to use xbox live gold so you can play other online.

it depends on which xbox live membership account you pick, if you have the silver account you can not play any online multiplayer activities but if you purchased a gold membership you will be given access to the multiplayer servers so. silver no, gold yes

No its not if you bought the premium pack it comes with a free one month trial. Then you can either buy it from your dashboard with a credit card or go to a video game shop and buy a pre-paid card.
