Don't listen to everyone here, they are so quick to jump to the worst conclusion. Thrush is a powdery substance that you will find on the cheeks and lips as well the tongue. If the whiteness is only on the tongue, perfectly normal. I breastfeed and my baby's tongue is ALWAYS white. It never isn't white. I took him to the doctors and he said it was a sign of healthy nutrition and that your baby is eating. He also told me that if it was thrush your nipples would be so sore, almost unbearable to feed. But if you don't breastfeed at all look for the powdery substance on cheeks, roof of mouth and lips. If no sign of that, rule out thrush

It is normal, and until they start drinking regular milk at 1 year it won't completely go away. I took my son to the doctor because I thought he had Thrush again, and even she had a hard time telling the difference. If baby seems to be in pain while eating it is Thrush. My son's doc told me to get the infant mouth cleaner that comes with the little finger brush and that helped a lot.

if it is really thick and you cannot see the tongue, if it is inside on cheeks or gums, or if baby cries or fusses when eating, then it is most likely thrush. But, if it is just white on tongue, and you can see at least part of a tongue and baby is not fussy when eating, then it is not. i definitely wouldn't hurry to treat it unless i was sure it is thrush, and the best way to be sure is to take your baby to a doctor and get it checked out. my baby has had white tongue almost since birth, but he is not a fussy eater; i tried wiping the white stuff off, it wouldnt wipe of too well, so i taught he had thrush, but his doc said it is not, she said thrush is a very thick white layer where you cannot even see the tongue and baby cries when eating, also thrush can cause sores in mouth, so look for those

Well it is common not normal, my daughter had white tongue because of formula and doctor told me to use some kind of drops to give her couple times a day and it's gone in week or two... You should talk with your baby's doctor and he'll proscribe you something for baby's tongue...

There is a condition that is very common in babies called"thrush" that causes the mouth to get all white inside. This can also make it sore. What it is is a yeast infection in the mouth. We all have yeast in our bodies all of the time but when we are given antibiotics or are very young it can get out of control. I'm 43 and I still get thrush every time I take antibiotics but a simple mouthwash (prescription) will get rid of it. Have your doctor look at it.

If it wipes off with a clean washcloth it is formula. If it doesn't it is thrush and it needs to be treated.
Which includes treating all laundry, anything the baby puts in their mouth. And the baby.

It can - you should be able to wipe it away with a damp paper towel or your finger.
If you can't wipe it away, take him to the doctor - he probably has thrush (a mild fungal infection that's common in babies) and needs a presciption. (As does mom if she's breastfeeding!)

if it's present all of the time and not just after a feeding it might be something called thrush. many babies get this. you should call the dr and ask them. if it's right after a feeding it goes away fairly soon after the feeding is over.

It sounds like maybie your baby has thrush in this case you would have to get an antibiotic for the child and make sure that anything coming in contact with yur baby be very well sterilized.

yes its normal and it should fade after a while, its just like when you eat say abluse candy and your mouth turns blue... but if it takes forever to go away then you might be making the formula too thick
