My very old, long-haired cat threw up all over my light beige carpet. I've tried all over-the-counter carpet cleaners but the red dye won't come out. Any suggestions?

To get that stain out, you need Joe Campanelli's Professional Stain Remover spray. It is the best. I got some from QVC and it took out a stain that was 2 years old on my tan carpet. It even removes permanent marker!

My cat has a sensitive stomach I guess and she does that about once a week. I've had the same problem with getting the stain out. I sometimes find that Windex does the job...other times it doesn't. I've used dishwashing soap and water, and a small scrub brush, and find that will remove the stain if the Windex didn't take care of it. Why do the manufacturers use dye in pet foods? Probably to make it look more appealing to the pet owners. Stupid. Purina has dry cat food in a bag for cats with "Sensitive Systems". I'm trying that out right now. Good luck!

The petstain removers by Nature's Miracle usually work great, although red could be a problem. These can be purchased at any good pet store. Simply follow instructions on the container. The Nature's Miracle line of products has removed everything from skunk odor off my dog to yellow cat bile from my oriental carpet.

I've had some success with hydrogen peroxide. You can mix peroxide with a little ammonia, or you can simply add a little bit of carpet cleaner or dish detergent to a cup of peroxide. Blot the mixture over the stain with a sponge, getting it into all the fibers. Blot dry with paper towels.

Have you also tried Oxy-Clean?

You have two options after you clean the vomit up with a portable carpet cleaner: 1) Oxy-clean diluted per the instructions, then clean with carpet cleaner again. 2) The spot cleaner in Dryel home dry cleaning kit. Just drip it on the spot and dab it up with a paper towel. I have tried to buy this cleaner seperately - to no avail.
