This morning, as I put on my tophat and took the umbrella from the stand; just about to go to work, I realised I couldn't find the door to my house. Worse still, I wasn't sure that the word 'door' actually existed. Looking in my dictionary I couldn't find the word anywhere. Hearing a miaow, I looked for my cat and had exactly the same problem- there was a miaow in the dictionary but no accompanying cat.
What I want to know is: how do I Conjure the two signified objects back into existence without the corresponding signifier? The disembodied miaow is infuriating, and, worse still, I can't let it out of...of...the......?

You won't find a CAT in the dictionary, too much of a squash.
So you couldn't find the word ANYWHERE. I thought you were looking for the word door...
The answer to this had better be good, I can't wait to hear it.
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrugh!
Sorry, I'm playing games, with your question, I really do want to hear the answer.

I have a simple fundamental problem with this statement:
Which dictionary did you managed to find that has the word 'miaow' written in it, yet simultaneously lacks the word 'door' I think that is quite a skill!!!

If you open the window the cat will return by jumping through after climbing endlessly to get back to you and when it wants to go back out it will lead you to the door - in the mean time sit down and relax, sounds like you have had a bad week?

Very funny. I take it Platonic ideas aren't your bag, then?
You would probably be interested in the new Wittgenstein, who figured language was a game. If you knew the rules, you knew what to do with language. It's one of those few philosophy books, where I put it down and said: Yup! He's got it. That's what this whole problem was. I don't need to ever worry about it again.

Are you sure that you are still in your physical body?
It sounds as if you have passed over and that you are having trouble recognising the fact. There are no doors in the spirit world and that is why you cannot find it.
