im in 9th grade. in critical reading, i got a 66, and scored higher than 98% of sophmores, in math i scored a 52, higher than 76% of sophmores, and in writing i scored a 62, higher than 97%of sophmores. Overall, i scored in the 88th percentile amongst college bound juniors. is this a good score? Also, what is the real point of the PSAT, and how can I expect to do on the SAT.

the PSAT's are NOTHING like the SAT's...i got a horrible score on the PSAT's and got a 2150 on the SAT's...on the other hand one of my good friends got an amazing score on the PSAT's and ended up with something like a 1200 on the SAT's....they don't necessarily reflect each other...

Yup that's pretty good, since you're a freshman. Like other people have said, one of the points of the PSAT is to give you an idea of what your score will be on the SAT (however, I do think that the SAT is more difficult, since it includes an essay section). So it's possible that you will score lower on the SAT (or you might score higher, it depends on how much you prepare). The PSAT is also important because if you score high enough, you can become eligble for certain scholarships (I think it's called a National Merit Scholarship, or something along those lines) Don't worry too much about the SAT, just practice and you'll do great.

That's pretty good - especially your critical reading. Your scores will probably go up between now and your junior or senior year, but they could also go down.

Your math seems a little low compared to the other scores, but they should improve if you're taking more advanced math classes (Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, etc.). Mine went from a 59 my sophomore year to a 66 my junior year, and then I ended up with a 740 on the SAT. My other scores definitely didn't change as dramatically, though.

The PSAT is just a practice SAT, but if you do really well your junior year, you may be eligible for National Merit Scholarships or at least be Commended. To be commended you'll probably need at least a little over 200 probably, though that changes year-to-year, and then it'll be higher if you're trying for a semi-finalist.

thats great! you will probably do 50-200 points better on the SATS then on the PSATs depending on how much time you prepare.
The point of the PSATs is to give you an idea on how you will do with the regular SATs.

I would say a practice test a week from now until you take the SATS
DEFANITLY take them twice and do it two months in a row, for example take them April and May or May and June. That will give you the biggest point increase.

Good Luck!

ok right that's one factor under no circumstances divide an sat score by skill of finished because of the fact it doesnot paintings like that an 1500 is the national average. an 1130 is definately very low yet for a freshman that's ok. eed to paintings complicated once you're taking the SAT for genuine yet you need to be fantastic by skill of the time you're a jr/sr there is not any such factor as a "failing p.c." additionally, the PSAT isn't significant, except you're particularly clever, it is barely a guage of ways are you in terms of sat and tells you what style of score you will get in case you do no longer learn, by skill of the time you're taking the sat, you will in user-friendly terms get a particularly bigger score, possibly 1500 on SAT so learn particularly complicated, the PSAT did no longer matter yet tthe SAT will definatley matter lots so sstart studing by skill of the summer time after sophmore 12 months

That is really good for a 9th grader! good job! you can probably expect a lot of improvement as well by the time you are a junior and you can probably be a national merit scholar. My scaled scores increased each year by roughly 20 so you can probably be somewhere around 220 your junior year. That is really good. You can expect a good grade on the SAT as well.

The point of the PSAT is to show what you would get on the SAT... You multiply your score by 10... In your case... 660...520....620... 1800 out of 2400?
