How could I diagram the anwser using colored pensils???

a light strand and a heavy strand would be produced after the first replication. draw a same colored double helix then draw a different colored double helix

Both strands of the original DNA would have to end up together in the same molecule. Semi-conservative tells us that each new molecule of DNA has one original side and one new side made by matching new nucleotides to the "unzipped" bases. You could probably just show the original DNA drawn all in red pencil, then arrows to two new DNAs. Draw each new DNA with one side in red and the other side in blue. Use your own choice of colors, but you get the idea.
