I have had 2 emails to my hotmail account which use my real name in the subject heading. This is odd because my Hotmail name (ie the one that appears when I email someone) is a totally different name (so I can spot spam).

But I have no idea who the senders are, and their entire message is just the address' below (one was in each email). As they are similar and I received them both on the same day it is confusing me. Does anyone know what they are (as I am reluctant to click on them, oh, and I AM IN NO WAY ASKING ANYONE TO GO TO THE LINKS FOR ME! I just wondered whether anyone had come accross them before.)

Anyone have any ideas?

Just so we are clear, the only way they could have gotten my name is if they knew me or were physic, as I have never used my real name in conjunction with that email address.

And thank you all for your concern, I wasn't going to click it, I was just curious as to whether anyone had seen the style of address before (both had '2' in them for 'to' and were sent the same day).

Very odd...

I got exactly the same thing in my Hotmail account:

Andrea Lee
"Hi amy..."
AndreaLee345@yahoo.com
www.debra.2hangwith.com

Annie Green
"Salute amy!!!"
AnnieGreen448@yahoo.com
www.angela.somebody2hit.com

Looking at them, they're almost certainly bot names and addresses, and the names in the URLs don't even match their own names. But I never get random spam or post my email anywhere, so it's kind of mysterious... and I definitely never spell my name with a lower case letter.

Well I'm deleting them and reporting them as spam. For what it's worth, you're not alone.

I just got the same thing - an email to my hotmail account but addressing me by my Christian name, which I have never officially associated with that account. Having said that, I'm sure I've used that email account in forums and then used my actual name in posts there etc. Maybe some unusually smart spambot can make the connection.

The link in my email was kathleen.2hangwith.com but needless to say I didn't click it. I never open spam but it's possible that someone could have known my name via a forum and used it in an email to me so I took a chance this time. At least now I know not to do it again!

My advice is to never open strange or unexpected emails - certainly never click on a link - delete them without opening. They could contain a virus, or more likely, an advert for Viagra! Millions of such emails are sent out every day, mainly from zombie computers (zombies are computers whose security is so low, that a hacker has taken control and is using the zombie to send out mass spam or viruses).

Hi all
I had the same and I am glad I found your question.
I have a name which I only ever registered at Friends reunited.
I received the same using my "full" name.
It has to be a fault at that site.
are you registered with them?

your headings and subjects TO and FROM can be seen by spamming companys or people, they take that and send you spam, its like a new way to telemarket over the internet, its all trash never open anything that you may question..

It's spam all right. They probably got your name off a list that associated it with your real name.

If you don't know for certain who they are from then just delete them.On no account should you click on the links, thats how viruses get onto your pc.
