Just break the cloves off and plant them in pots.

First detached cloves individually from the bulb.Dibbled at spacing 15cm from row to row and 5 - 7 cm within row. Best sowing time is Sept to Oct. Give one weeding after one month and second after another month. Apply @ 25 ton /ha , 50 kg N
60 kg P and 100 kg K / ha ( Urea,SSP,MOP) It is a crop of 4 to 5 months duration. Harvest when leaves started drying.

buy a garlic head from the grocery store then break it apart and plant it either in pots, or outside. When the green shoots have grown you can harvest it. Just dig it up and use, or break it apart and plant some more!
