WELL NOTHING WITH SEXUAL CONTENT. I DO ALLOW HIM TO WATCH WHATEVER HE WANTS, REASON BEING I CAN WATCH IT WITH HIM AND ASK HIM HIS VIEWS ON IT, NEVERTHELESS IF THE MOVIE IS VIOLENT WITH NO MORAL I OPT NOT TO. BUT IT'S FUNNY A PARENT MAY ALLOW A CHILD TO WATCH RO-BO COP WHERE THERE IS MAJOR VIOLENCE, BUT MAKE A BIG FUSS ABOUT MUSIC VIDEOS. ANYWAY IF A MOVIE IS ABOUT VIOLENCE I MAY SIT DOWN AND WATCH IT WITH HIM AND THEN ASK HIM HIS VIEWS ON IT AND THEN DISCUSS THE MOVIE AND THE MORAL OF IT. I ACTUALLY HAVE HIM WATCH A LOT OF MOVIES ABOUT PRISON, GANG VIOLENCE, AND A VARIETY OF OTHER GENRES THAT ARE AIRED ON CHANNEL 13(pbs) THAT WE FACE IN SOCIETY. I WOULD RATHER WATCH IT WITH HIM SO THAT I MAY GIVE HIM FEEDBACK AND GET HIS OPINION, RATHER THAN HAVE HIM WATCH IT FOR THE FIRST TIME WITH FRIENDS AND GET NEGATIVE FEEDBACK TO WHERE HE NEVER LEARNS THE MORAL OF THE STORY, (only views on how big someones gun was.) FAR TOO MANY PARENTS SUFFOCATE THEIR CHILDREN WITH SAFETY NETS AND KEEP THEM BLINDED TO WHATS REALLY GOING ON OUT HERE IN THE WORLD, AND THEN THEY WONDER WHY THEIR CHILDREN ARE SO EASILY INFLUENCED. I FEEL THAT IN THIS DAY AND AGE WE NEED TO DO MORE THAN TALK TO OUR CHILDREN, THESE KIDS NEED VISUAL EFFECTS. FOR EXAMPLE I HAD MY SON WATCH A PROGRAM ABOUT A MAN DYING FROM LUNG CANCER SO NOT ONLY DID WE GO OVER THE NEGATIVE AFFECTS OF SMOKING, BUT HE SAW IT FIRST HAND. SHELTERING YOUR CHILDREN IS ONE THING BLINDING THEM IS ANOTHER

The wife and my self have set the cable box filters (No playboy channel (for the kids) no spice channel), but the R ratings on 5 HBO's, 4 Cinamax's, 3 Encore's channels will bring up the V-Chip rating.
We will review the information about the program provided by the cable company and let them know yes or no...

I don't have kids yet, but if I did I think it would depend on their ages. Ages 1-14 no I wouldn't let them watch whatever they wanted but ages 15- and up I would. I'm a teenager now and trust me when it comes to teens and telling them what they can or can't watch whether you like it or not they end up watching it anyway if not at your house at a friends. It's just easier to avoid the complications there.

My son is 15 and a half, and I've just been letting him watch what he wants on tv and watch R rated movies over the last year or so. Even now, though, I don't let him watch all R rated movies, but only certain ones; I have to approve them first.

My son is 2 and he doesn't watch TV. I have a few Wiggles videos and a DVD of Finding Nemo and that's all he watches. Sometimes he can go weeks without watching a video and that is perfectly fine with me.

Definitely not. What's the purpose of parenting skills if we let them watch or do whatever they want.

we were never told what to watch, but some stuff was just not what we wanted to watch. we could only pick one program a week to watch (each) and the rest were our parents picks.
