I have a msi kt3 ultra 2 motherboard. Can anyone tell me whats the best processor I can get that will operate with my mobo for under $250?

that motherboard supports Socket A processors, in laymans terms that means AMDs old Athlon xp series which are no longer supported by AMD because of their new AM2 socket processors. This of course, makes them much cheaper than ither processors on the market.
I suggest you google "Socket A Athlon xp" and variations on that search to find the processor you want. with Xp processors its easy enough to get an idea which one is best, the higher the number at the end of its name is, generally the better the processor is. jus make sure you buy Socket A NOT Socket AM2. good luck!

either look at your documentation to find out what cpu chip it takes, or look at the socket, there is a number on it. it only takes that type of cpu.
faster is better, depending on price difference.
