The best advice I can give you is to get the hell away from him first. Come up with an escape plan. Figure out where, when and how you will escape. Once you are safe and away from him, talk to a lawyer about the divorce. Take as much money and personal possessions as you can and escape.

I'm sorry you married this loser. But realize that there are plenty of good men out there that don't abuse their wives. Good luck, stay safe.

Update: I found some links for you.

First of all, you do need to get to a place where he can not find you., or at least where there are people around you at all times. filing for a divorce is the easy part. Let as many people know what is going on as possible. Even the police, file reports get restraining orders, make it really hard for him to even think of getting close to you again. I hope you have family that can help you. This guy could get very dangerous. It happens all the time. Once you are away from him, you can go to the Hall of Records and file for a divorce for about 50.00

I asked my family the same question once. When I left my husband because of his temper I moved in with my mom and got a Restraining Order, still he would break into my home and follow me around, its hard and scary. A year later this was still going on so I moved out of state and didn't tell anyone where I was going. It worked I'm happy now. I do miss my family but its safe for them no to know where I am, if they don't know then no one can slip up and tell him. Take care and make sure to get a Restraining Order they're easy to get and free, They do help, but I would say if he's as bad as my ex then after you leave him find a nice safe place to move, I know its hard but its better than being beaten everyday!!

GO TO A SHELTER FOR ABUSED WOMEN FIRST.
Then go get yourself an attorney familiar with battered women .The lawyer will guide you through the process without revealing your safe house .Some people think just a restraining order will protect you ,They`re wrong . Many women have been killed by enraged spouses after being served .
SAFETY FIRST.

file for divorce tell them u don't know where he is, they will put the divorce in the newspaper several times, if he doesn't happen to see it he will not be responding, and u will get your divorce by default. not everyone reads that part of the newspaper and seldom sees it.

Well, your best bet is to file a restraining order. That way the police can help you if things turn ugly. Ending your marriage is the right thing to do if a spouse is violent, so definitely do it.

Have you talked to a lawyer yet? Many lawyers will allow you to sit down to an initial meeting without charging you. He/She might be able to handle everything without allowing your husband to know where you are.

Sounds like you need a restraining order. Get a lawyer(you can probably get one Pro-Bono) and have them file for you.
