I find it strange that you live in an Islamic country and still don't know it's people and ways, lol. But anyways, Muslims don't hate dogs, we just don't prefer them for indoor pets. A dog's saliva is unclean and if we come into contact with it, we have to make wudu (cleansing) before we pray. There is also a Hadith that says angels do not enter a room in which there is a dog. There is nothing in Islam that states dogs are evil, or disliked, or to be banished from the lands, lol. Dogs are very loyal animals and are commonly used as guard dogs by Muslims who don't mind making wudu. My best friend (Muslim) has the cutest, sweetest pit bull you'd ever meet. They are still God's creation and we have to respect them like we also have to respect pigs, another creation of God.

Which Muslim country are you in? My uncles also in a Muslim country and has a pet dog!
Muslims are allowed to have pet dogs on the ground of protection-be it for land or for the home.
For whoever says we (Muslims) believe the devil smells like a wet dog-errmmmmmmmm that's news to me. More like a cultural thing than Islamic me thinks....
As for dogs being more faithful-my pet dog ranaway so I'm not so sure on that! Then again...so did my cat!

I don't know for sure why muslims dislike dogs. I do remember that my sister's friend and her mother came to visit our house in the US. They are both from Egypt, and the mother was afraid of our dog. She didn't want the dog to touch her. My sister's friend explained that dogs are considered unclean and that her mother would have to wash herself especially well before praying.
I hope this helps.

Dogs have wet noses which make the things they sniff, wet, this wetness is considered dirty in Islam and so you can not pray with the cloths the dog has sniffed and one has to pray 5 times. That's why they stay away from dogs.

Muslims don't hate dogs, but they think they're dirty. You know the smell of a dog when he's been out in the rain? Muslims believe that that's the way the devil smells, so they don't want to live with dogs. I'm not muslim, but I know lots of them. I agree with them. I don't think dogs belong in the house. They are dirty and stinky. Just smell your hand after you pet one.
