I'm in the market for a new PC, on a budget of about $750. This leaves me deciding between the AMD 64 x2 5000 and the Intel entry level Core 2 Duo E6300. The video card I chose is the 256 MB X1300 Pro from ATI. I'm looking for a solid performer for video editing and moderate game playing. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

The 5000+ is slightly better at stock speeds. If they are the same price, then I would say go with the AMD, but generally the E6300 is about $120 less. If you plan to overclock, then definately go with the E6300, it overclock much higher, and will blow the 5000+ away at an overclocked speed.

A lot of buzz about the nforce 650 sli chipset. You can also find either an nforce 650 or intel 965 board that will support the intel quad core chip if you ever feel like upgrading. No way to tell what then next amd will look like or what you'll need to run it.

Prices on the intels should be coming down soon as well since the quadro is out on the market
