the major difference is that the spanish came here just to plunder and take what they could, especially huge amounts of silver, since they could not find as gold as they would have liked. spain never really did settle here except for a santa fe, nm and st augustine, fla. new mexico was to spread the gospel and the florida one was to prevent the french from settling there. at this time the huguenots were trying to settle in sc.

the english came here with the notion of settling, although they didn't endear themselves with the native americans either. at first the adventurers in jamestown thought they would grab some gold and go but they all realized quickly there was none here and then agriculture took root. the rest is history.

I do not know the major differences but I do know the major compatibilities which was taking the land and lives of the Native American Indian.

The main differences in the early settlers were language and their choice of religion. Dress or clothing would be a minor difference.

The english let all kinds of people in, catholics, french, etc. spanish only let in spanish or catholic.
