I have killer menstrual cramps and my body feels likes it has been run over by a car. What can I do to relieve the pains? Any other remedies besides medicine?

"Too many women tend to skip meals and consume excessive amounts of sweets and salty foods just at a time when they should be so careful in their dietary choices," says Alexis Phillips,a medical massage instructor and supervisor of the Peter Ling Clinic of the Swedish Institute in New York City.
The foot contains acupressure or trigger points that are believed to be connected along internal energy pathways to your pelvic area, she explains.Feel for these spots - which she says will be sensitive during your period - in the depressions above either side of your heel. Gently press in with your thumb and finger tips. Do the same along the sides of your Achilles tendon, moving up toward your calf muscle.
Try this acupressure technique for a few minutes on each foot.

You'll have to go to the drug store for this... so not home remedy but it is the best thing I have found. I've tried about every remedy there is. It's called Iodex. It looks like axle grease but if you use it your poison ivy will be dead the next day. To use it though you have to break all of the rules: 1. scrape open the blisters and clean with soap and water. 2. dry off and quickly apply the Iodex then cover with gauze or a soft dry cloth so you won't wipe the Iodex off accidentally. The next morning you'll see that the poison ivy is dead. You'll probably have to ask the pharmacist to get it for you as it won't be out on a shelf or display. It's not prescription. Make sure you ask for the one that is for cuts and abrasions. @JenV: Thanks for that. Like you I have been covered from head to foot, many times. I will have to give your Neoxyn a try. This is the first I have heard of it.

I know you just want to curl up and lie there, but it's better if you get some exercise. Going for a brisk walk helps me a bit. Some people say having sex relieves cramps, but I wouldn't reccommend that unless you have a regular partner. (don't go out and have sex with someone just for that reason!) Then, after you make it through this week, start improving your diet and exercise every day. Eat more fruits and veggies, get regular exercise, less sugar and fatty foods, drink more water. Then the next period shouldn't be as bad. If it still is, you might want to get checked by your gyn. for endometriosis.

when i had bad cramps, i found that an advil worked really well. also, you could try taking a nice warm bath... and/ or a nap.
if you continue to have serious cramps, why not consider asking your doctor about the birth control pill. it really fixed the problem for me. also, my periods became much more regular & the flow a lot lighter.
good luck

chocolate helps (the darker the better, hot chocolate is good)

or a heating pad, you can get those heated back patch things but for girls that go inside your panties and keep you warm all day.

I DO NOT THINK THAT PAIN RELIEVERS WILL SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM PERMANENTLY - IN FACT THEY MAY WORSEN THE CONDITIONS. THE PROBLEM IS THERE BECAUSE OF DERANGED ENDOCRINE SYSTEM. YOU MAY GO FOR SUITABLE BREATHING EXCERCISES CALLED PRANAYAM WHICH CAN SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM PERMANENTLY. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH HARMONE TREATMEMNT. YOU MAY BE ABLE TO SOLVE ONE PROBLEM AND ACQUIRE NEW ONES. IF NEEDED, I CAN SUGGEST SOME VERY EFFECTIVE PRANAYAM MEDITATION EXCERCISES.
