Hey, I have an 8th grade semi-formal dance on February the 16th and I was wondering what i should wear!! My school has NEVER had a semi-formal dance, so naturally I've never been to one so I have no idea what I should wear. I was thinking a knee-length orange dress, but the problem is I don't really live in a location with a whole lot of stores to buy from. IF I was to order off the internet would it come in time? Or should I try to find a store nearbye. Thanks!

Hi there,

Orange isn't really a 'February' colour, but I say rock it if you want! For a semi-formal, knee-length should be fine (the last formal I went to--last year in college--I wore a dress that was knee-length in the front and was ankle-length in the back. I think that looks pretty good, so maybe you'd want to look into that?).

On most websites, they'll tell you how long it takes to ship... Generally 10 business days or less. You can often times get express shipping. I would be really careful of buying online, though, just because sometimes things aren't as good looking as they are on somebody else (if you know what I mean).

I live in the middle of nowhere too, but if you can get to a mall, check Macy's, JC Penney's, Bon Ton, department stores like that. The prices usually aren't too bad, and they are popular enough that most malls will have at least one of those stores.

If you are looking for something that isn't too expensive, try Deb! You might even find something on clearance because we are in between Homecoming and Prom seasons--the dress I mentioned above? I got it for $7!!!

Good luck!

There are many stores to choose from and it would certainly come on time. Even if you wait to order, there is always a 1 or 2 delivery offered. It will cost you more for that delivery though, so order quickly and avoid extra costs.

Try talbots.com

They always have a nice selection for semi-formal dresses. Just google semi-formal dresses and take your choice. Then there is always eBay too where you can find used dresses. Also try sears.com and www.promgirl.com.(you will find orange there)

a knee-length dress is fine. a dress would come in a few days if you order online. But it's always better to find a store, because you never know how they would fit or if they're to long on you, or too big.
