It seems that on every conservative talk show that I have listened to most "whites" feel or seem to feel threatened by multiculturalism. What is it about multiculturalism that bothers you so much? I have heard Rush say that it poses a threat to Traditional Values, Hannity has said that it is the "libs" trying to get back at us" and etc. etc. etc. I just cannot understand how learning about the diversity of this country can be so polarizing in "white" circles.

I just have a sneeky suspicion that it has something to do with 2050 (No racial majority in the U.S.) If we are a nation that prides itself on democracy and brotherhood, WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD THAT BOTHER ANYONE, unless you are racist.

(This is really a sincere question, I am not trying to bait an argument or start a racial war. But inquiring minds just want to know.)

I know for a fact that neither Rush nor Hannity has any problem with multicultural in our country. Being against illegals, or those of say the black race who use their race as an excuse not to be a functioning member in society is not right and things of this nature. They do not and I can promise you have a problem with any race. You've misunderstood them or listen to some liberals spouting off again. As for you no racial majority in 2050 the white race is actually the minority now. It will never happen.

Multiculturalism is a fact within the United States. So to suggest such seems rather strange considering the facts of the communities within the United States that beg to differ with the suggested premise.

What most Americans, even those that are not "white" have a problem with is the great influx of illegals within the country and the lack of enforcement of the laws on the books to address that very problem. That of course is a whole other topic.

The issues that some like to focus upon between blacks and whites is almost a thing of the past with the literal passing away of those that have such a closed mind. Same thing goes for blacks and Mexicans, Asians and everyone, whomever else vs. someone else.

I for one see nothing wrong with a person from a particular culture wanting to keep part of that culture as long as it isn't bound upon others - meaning freedom for all to make the choices that fits them and their life best. Such is what every person attempts to do - seek freedom for them and their family, being able to make choices freely, have the legal ability to live such.

The term racism to refer to preference for one's own ethnic group, fear of foreigners, views against interracial relationships, and/or generalizations about a specific group of people.

If the point of view you are focused upon within the scope of your question would help in giving a better answer.

If it were just a passing question you would not have cited Rush or Hannity. I appreciate every individual culture. I love the fact that we are all different. I think the Push to mix up the races causes all of out cultural identity to be lost. If that is racist tell me how. White America is already no longer the majority. And that being the case it is time for White Americans to no longer be singled out. No more groups promoting a specific race. No affirmative action. No Miss black America. No NAACP,Push,Rainbow coalition,KKK, United ***** college fund. I believe these groups are the ones that are promoting most racism in America. Racism isn't a white thing anymore. Whites have been having to walk on egg shells for fear of offending a minority. Will others walk on those same shells when Whites are in the minority? I think not.

OK, I'll try the best I can as Breif as I can be. A persons ethnic cultural heritage is not the real issue. Their heratigage and ways of their background should be maintained and celebrated. I find the different ethnicities very interesting and facisinating. The way I see / understand it is that America / the US is a gathering of many ethnic and cultural groups and always has been. Although we should and can celebrate our individual ethnic heratages, we also need to be able to communicate in a language that is common to the majority of the population, the language that the country is based in. We all need to, in addition to celabrating our individual heratige, need to celebrate the hreatige of this great country. It's more about working together for a commom goal of improving and enjoying life in America. If you come to this country you should be ready to assimilate to the culture of this country along w/ celebrating your individual heritage. Too many people "want to be here" but do not want to learn the ways of this land or celebrate its history or culture. They just want to move in, bring their way of life here and not make any effort to fit in. How is that going to be bennifical to the country's health if there are different populations of diversified culturals that cannot communicate and work together for the common good of the country? Sounds like you would end up with the type cultural problems as you have in the mideast. Many of the different tribes of people are always fighting and killing each other because they want their way of life and ideas to be prodominate. Well, I don't think I explained my thoughts very well, but it will have to do.

I think you may need to seek help for your fantasy world.. I only came to this question because the headline was so outrageous I figured the question had to be just as bad... and it was... I am a "white" person and have no problem with multiculturalism... this is getting a bit ridiculous.. the only problem I have is with illegal immigrants in this country.. legal immigrants from any country are welcome.. I do believe that anybody should appreciate their heritage however realize that they are in the US and not that country.. I do believe that anyone should be able to speak any language they want in their personal life however as a country , one nation, we ALL need to communicate with each other and therefore publicly should speak one language... It has nothing to do with no racial majority is has to do with this country.. my ancestors worked very hard to make this country the way it is.. and it should be appreciated and people should have pride in this country.. and we need to be a country full of citizens and legal immigrants who love and appreciate this country and it's history, good and bad... and do what we can to better us everyday

I am not trying to start a fight or race war but its a simple historical fact the fall of every great civilization has been the watering down of its civilization by outside influences the Romans the Greek the Celts the Mongols (America is still in the process of declining) in fact most would say the only reason china has lasted so long is they have until now did a damn good job of keeping everyone out

I don't listen to Limbaugh, and I don't watch Hannity. I hear enough hate from the far-left, to have to deal with the far-right as well.
I'm not threatened by multiculturalism at all. I have no issue with people from other nations. I'm learning several different languages (I speak basic German, and Spanish, and I also speak a little bit of French, Italian, Polish, and Hindi.), and I have much respect for other cultures.
What bothers ME is all these hyphenated titles: Japanese-American, African-American, Chinese-American, Hispanic-American, et cetera. Why can't we all just be AMERICAN? I don't care where a person is from, what color their skin is, what kind of accent they have, or WHAT their native language is. Just so long as they attempt to learn English (since most Americans speak English, though some better than others), and treat our laws with respect.
I don't CARE. But I think that things like Affirmative Action are wrong, because they still attempt to make a distinction between various races. I don't think any of us need to be TOLD we're equal, we just ARE!
Ignore Hannity and Limbaugh. They don't represent the entire conservative base any more than Cindy Sheehan and Michael Moore represent the liberals.

you in user-friendly terms at the instant are not the stereotypical "Mexican American" that a lot of people cope with a majority of the time. regrettably, for you and a great style of others, you're caught interior the middle and are thrown into that type. you have made some valid factors that i'm particular that my great-great grandmother dealt with to boot. a number of the resentment relies upon frustration of our declared language being English yet we are compelled to constantly elect what language, particularly than immediately being in English. i.e. ATMs have one greater desirable step extra now. This resentment additionally comes from thousands and thousands of individuals dropping their jobs to diminish paid workers in Mexico. You for sure are fluent in English; the resentment that folk have a tendency to have isn't in direction of those that are attempting to make this usa a bigger place to stay by skill of embracing their new fatherland. i will communicate 5 different languages, yet in user-friendly terms a splash of each. whether, i could be brushing up those skills by skill of studying to communicate fluently and write eloquently in that particular language, if mandatory for return and forth or relocation. it is basically too undesirable that there is the style of segregation because of the fact it is mindless and unproductive. I agree that being waiting to communicate bilingual, trilingual... etc. is a clever asset in any occupation field. you need to be a stable occasion that others can lookup to in case you ever elect to take that function.

The short answer is that the conservative talking heads are all about espousing hatred toward any group that potentially threatens the conservatvie utopian ideology. This is why you hear all these radicals assassinating the character of democrats, liberals, the left, secular progressives, Hispanics, Muslims, homosexuals, really ANY critic of the conservative utopian ideology. These radicals include Hannity, O'Reilley, Limbaugh, Ingram, Coulter, et al. They all then HIDE behind their "Christian" convictions, WITH ABSOLUTELY NO SHAME and absolutely no clue that they are...what's wrong with America...The interesting part is that so many of "their" camp are themselves...homosexuals...such as Haggert, Foley, many of the priests, the Cheney daughter, ect, ect, ect...This, a pathetic strain of the "intelligent" species...And this is the GOOD news. Wait till we get into the corrupt and criminal activities of the man sent from God...George W. Bush...It all makes for a very good case that human "progress" is just...self-defeating...

I am caucasian and urban - find myself uncomfortable in a rural setting where there are only white people and a handful of black people and no one else. So I guess I take multiculturalism for granted. As for Rush and his sort - remember they are entertainers and propagandizers, pandering to what they think are the beliefs of their target audience.
