The Simpsons are so popular because in many ways they parody the modern dysfunctional nuclear family. In lots of ways we can relate to the main characters, for example fathers can see a little bit of themselves in Homer and his pursuit of a work life balance often interruped by a crate of Duff.

Because it is hilarious for one, and two, it had an odd humor, the caught on during the early 90's, and as the animation evolved, so did the the writers, and things became more interesting, keeping up with current events, and making fun of them. :) That's why I watch it.

I haven't a clue, because I myself, watched it "ONCE" just to see what all the hype was about, and didn't care much for it at all!!! Then, I went and got a job, at the Mall in Laughlin Nevada, and my Supervisor, would come in the next morning and tell us everything that happened on that show, and neither myself or my co-worker, could care less about hearing all the details of the rediculous show!!! Then our boss, began selling all those shirts, about the show!! I couldnt' believe it when we had one shirt, something about someone on that show killing there Husband, and there was this cartoon figure with the girl holding a bloody knife, and this old lady said, "I just have to have this T-Shirt" because of her husband, something about her husband!! And that really CREAPED me out!!! Alls I could think of, was she was going to go home, and kill her poor husband, because of what the message's idea was about!!! People were always commenting on that show everytime someone bought those T-shirts from our store!!! I honestly dont know what anyone sees in watching Cartoon's anyway!!! I tell my oldest son, when he comes over to visit, that I'm too old to watch Cartoon's and they dont do anything for me, that I want to see "REAL People" I've outgrown the cartoon stage, to please change the channel, and put something on, we all can agree on!!! You Know!!!HaHa Smile!!!!

Because we as Americans love crude humor. We love talking **** on people and love hearing others crack jokes on another peoples expense. Its just simply outside the box creative writing and classic characters.

Well I don't know what the reason is but I guess people like the humour in it. Even though sometimes they tend to make offensive jokes, people can laugh about it knowing it's just a silly cartoon.

Because it's funny with interesting characters. Though I do think 'Family Guy' is loads better.
