Why is it that my mother was in the hospital for only four days - came home with a slight bruised looking spot on her back and died with massave sores in one month? Why does someone in a coma for a year, 6months whatever don't get them and die quicker?

Bed sores are caused by pressure. If the patient is not kept cleaned & turned about every 2 hours, be sores may develop. The patient's overall health & nutrition level will play into this. Once a bedsore has developed the area MUST stay clean & dry or it may become infected. Once an infection sits in, it can become a life-threatening issue.

bed sores are caused by not moving and having constant pressure on one spot..if people are long term patients they are turned and positioned minimum of every 2 hours, bony areas are padded and other measures like that...if bed sores become infected and the infection becomes systemic then yes a person can die in a month..was your mom at home when she died or in the hospital
