Your bank should be able to tell you, as it varies depending on your location and where you are going. It has always been best for me to exchange after I got to my destination. Travel guide books tell you to stay away from hotel and airport exchange places, but that is where I usually go.

Where you live due to the trust issue.

Many many countries are corrupt even at the airports and you have to know exactly what you have coming if you are going to exchange currencies.

It depends. Lucky for us, US currency is generlaly in high demand anywhere, so whether you exchange now or later shouldn't matter too much.

Just dont exchange somewhere like the airport-- they ahve horrendous fees.

It's generally cheaper and to your advantage to purchase the money where you live. But definitely check the rates, both where you live and where you are going..................

Great question. I would say better where you live. I would imagine it is safer anyway.
