My philosophy of the meaning of life is to survive.
According to Darwin, all life evolutionises to survive in the different conditions of the world to breed and populate the area they live in therefore dominating it. That's why we mix with other races to create hybrids so that everyone is different and therefore more of a chance in our different DNA and physicallity to fight diseases or or why some of us are weaker to disease so they will not survive as well. This is natures way of selective breeding. Those with Down syndrome or major genetic disablements are known to be sterlile as they have mutated genes and are sadly known as nature's mistakes.
We humans have taken over the dinosaurs, we are now fighting diseases like AIDS, MRSA etc and although in some cases we are winning the fight, we are not dominant to them, viruses and disease etc change so rapidlly to survive our medicines and they or another super disease will kill us all eventually.
So this is our meaning of life, we must survive to dominate the planet as dinosaurs once did, but mother nature is culling us to make way for another species to take over. A way of helping the planet reccuperate I suppose, as we are depleteting the planet of its rescources and killing it and ourselves.
I believe it'll be cockroaches or another lower form next, they will evoloutionise to dominate and beable to survive in conditions that we can't breed in, therefore taking over the planet as the next 'humans' and will grow to use the planet as their resources to generate their species. Then after a few million years it will do the same again. Survival of the fittest.
Or 42 as my son says......

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

I think the movie "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" was on to something, but that movie is only a small part of a very large puzzle it would seem. I'm sure johnny depp is another.

Wow...I remember a movie dealing with something like this. I think the quote went something like this..."Life is exactly what you choose to make it to be, not one bit more and not one bit less."
What I like best is the word, "choose."
To get a bit poetic/philosophical/religious, etc, the meaning of life is the opportunity enrich the universe by dropping yourself in to the sea of selflessness and making all the waves you can to touch the lives of other people in way that give life, hope, dreams and love.
Don't read this wrong. I hope you never find your goal. The real meaning of life in in the quest. Keep on making waves and watch the beauty of it all rise up in your passing.
I wish you a rich and wonderful life.

to experience life. Think of it like this, WHat is the purpose of the games world of warcraft or Sims? The purpose is not to to beat it, cause there really is no ending in those games. The purpose is merely to explore and experience the worlds thats this video game has to offer through the character that you build. Well the real world is the video game and you are the character, and you get to run the ultimate simulation of life. now what do you want your character to do?

"Life," in the words of Ford Prefect, "is like a grapefruit...it's sort of orangy-yellow and dimpled on the outside, wet and squidgy in the middle. It's got pips inside, too. Oh, and some people have half a one for breakfast."
42 is the answer to life, the universe and everything. :D

Go to the library and look it up. There are many religions and philosophies each with its own version of the meaning of life. There are many books on the subject.

Everyone has there own perception of what the meaning of life really is.
I, personally, think that it is an opinion question, and there is no right or wrong answer.
