$2000 a month! You didn't say anything about children, so obviously you don't have any. If this is the case, wherein he is ordered to pay you spousal support because you are used to living a pampered life...... get a job.

Honey no one will help you unless you help yourself. I realize the basis of the divorce may be detrimental to you, probably you doing nothing wrong, he may have had an affair, but stand up, move forward and improve yourself.

Spousal support irritates me. I am a divorced woman, my last child is approaching 18 so child support won't be in the picture anymore, but I also work my butt off, take home a very good salary and support myself, and I've never had a day of college.

These words may be harsh, but sometimes the truth hurts. If you are getting $1200 a month, you can easily get a job where you take home $1000 a month, and an easy job, where very little skill is needed. That $2000 will eventually come to an end. Again BECOME SELF SUFFICIENT.

EDIT #1 - AFTER reading Enrique L's answer... all the more reason to become self sufficient. Enrique to you I say, come down off your testosterone high... you are the type that give good men bad names..... Ummm and Kate, yes I have been in that situation, and have lost my home... that will NEVER happen to me again, why???? Because I did what was necessary to make my life comfortable, I drive 2 hours every day for work, just so that I can make that $15k more a year. Depend on yourself and you will make it. Ok, I'm done editing...lol. I could go on forever!

The money is going to keep accumulating, with interest I may add and he will owe it all. Why can't they garnish the money out of his wages? Then he has no control over how much he pays-BUT the court does.Something will happen to him soon, it does take time, even if he is filing an appeal, he still owes the money even though he is appealing.Call the court and find out how long he can go without paying the correct amount-it isn;t long. Good luck.

Assuming you live in the USA, when the court orders a spouse to pay for support the amount is automatically deducted from that spouse's pay and a check is sent to the recipient. If you are in another country, I suggest to go to the court and tell them. They will get your money. Now with this appeal going on you should get an attorney involved for guidance.

First of all you can NEVER consider child support as income, you just cannot. My ex has not paid child support in just about a year. You risk the father working under the table or skipping state to keep from paying this or there are going to be times that he tries to get it lowered in court. Basically and honestly the courts do not do much but maybe take his license away for not paying that is nothing of a punishment and heaven forbids he is or gets married then they cannot touch any of his joint assets including tax refunds. My suggestions if you are not remarried or planning to, get a job and live in your means. There are alot of agencies to help with daycare costs and so forth. As a single mother you do not need to own a house, you just need to provide reasonable shelter for them. If you are going to lose your house try working out something with the lender or putting it up for sale, you maybe able to get the courts to judge on that where you take the majority of the equity. As for child support that you do get, use that for extras such as birthday presents, christmas presents, and little extras that you could not afford with just your income.

The order in all probability has a project on the percentage of income...you could't take more desirable than a particular quantity of his income, and if his income has dropped for any reason, you're taking the hit alongside with him. If he has no income, you get no longer some thing. bypass ahead and phone your criminal specialist in case you go with, yet it is in all probability so a lot more desirable expensive than only asking your ex.

okay unlike the rest of these people on here . Here is what you do you go to clerk of courts office and you speak to someone there and they should be able to tell you what you need to do . Sometimes you can find a nice clerk and they will be able to help you . I wish you luck and there is no reason for people to be nasty to you ,you were just asking a question . Obviously some of these people have never been in risk of losing their homes it is scary . Good luck and god bless you.

Take him back to court and request that his wages be garnished for the spousal support. Is there some reason you can't get a job to help with your own support? If you couldn't depend on him when you were married, how do you expect to be able to depend on him now.

Be grateful you are getting that. My ex went about 6 years and paid nothing. I was due 340/mo for child support. Eventually I went to CSE and they now order it out of his paycheck. He was 10,000 behind. I'm not sure I would rock the boat if I was getting most of it.

maybe an extra pt job would help till the courts get it straight. he might not be able to afford and more at this time , I say take it back to court and do what you can do but in the mean time count your lucky chickens he pays anything at all.

Have your lawyer draw up a legal paper having the employer take it directly from his check.
