My one month old has real bad diaper rash. My sister tells me it's the wipes. I use Huggies sensitive wipes. I also use Desitin and Balmex whenever I change his diapers. The ointment only reduces the skin rash. I want it to go away forever what should I do?

Probably is the wipes, my little one was a month old when she got a diaper rash, and we thought it was the huggies diapers, so we went back to pampers, but then realized that it didn't go away, and we stopped using the huggies wipes and it was gone. Don't use any vasiline on him either, that keeps his skin moist and can make the diaper rash stay. I used Pentamen cream to get rid of her rash and it worked.

Baby Wipes For Diaper Rash

If the wipes are scented or contain alcohol, that will keep a rash from going away. Too-vigorous cleaning can also irritate a diaper rash. It could also be a reaction to the basic chemicals in the wipes or a reaction to the diapers. Make sure you're changing baby's diaper as soon as possible after it's soiled and let the area dry for a few minutes before putting the clean diaper on. You may also need to try changing brands of diapers and/or wipes.

It could be the wipes, try using plain water and paper towels for awhile.

It could be the diapers, try a different brand. Receiving blankets can make good temporary cloth diapers.

Give your baby lots of naked time to help heal.

Try a different cream.

If there are small dots surrounding the rash it could be yeast. Go to the pharmacy and buy an anti-fungal cream (for yeast infectiosn or jock itch, it's the same stuff). Use a SMALL amount twice a day.

The first rash is always the worst because you usually don't catch it at the begining AND you don't know what works for your child. Breastmilk is awesome for preventing rashes. Just squirt some on and let it dry. I don't find it helps for sever rashes.

Also I find sudocream to be the best, it isn't thick like penetan which caused my son's skin to fall off in bits. It was really nasty.

Also your doctor can prescribe other creams if it is really bad.

First, You should always get the proper advice from your pediatrician. The wipes are probably not causing the diaper rash. Your baby is very young and his skin is extremely sensitive If you think you can handle using a warm wash cloth and baby wash that may be better. But You have to remember to let him dry before applying the new diaper. Fan him, or use a dry towel to dry the area. You can also sprinkle powder that contains cornstarch to keep moisture from his urine away from his skin. If he's like my daughter he should probably be changed after each use. You can also apply your brand of cream even when he isn't irritated or request that your doctor prescribes a cream. Also they have an ointment called, "butt paste" kinda messy but stays on longer than regular cream, Not my first pick but it's good. Also think about the type of diaper your using. Just because it's a name brand doesn't mean that it's best for your child. Luvs, Parents Choice, White Cloud are good, sturdy, and affordable diapers. One last thing, Are you sure it's diaper rash and not yeast infection? YES!!!! Boys can get yeast infection. If that's the case then you'll have to go through other steps. Your doctor may prescribe something containing NYSTANTIN. So PLEASE check with your doctor first. Let me know what happens.

I maybe the baby wipes. When I had my daughter I was told at the hospital to just use a warm wash cloth instead of the wipes, and to use vasaline rather than those other creams for the first few months.
I only used wipes if I was out of the house and couldn't get to sink.

my girl was getting a bit red and irritated. we use wipes as well. Make sure there is no alcohol in the brand you use, and give his little bum some air time to dry out. It is just like leaving a bandage on your finger too long. it gets all moist and the skin can't breathe. I will even blow on her before putting a new diaper on to make sure she is really dry. Also the balmex stuff can be used once he is dry, to make a protective layer between skin and wet diaper.

its probably the wipes. whenever i used to use wipes 24/7 for about a week straight, my kids would start getting rashes.

i learned to use plain water and cotton then wiping with paper towels in the beginning. when they're older and more stable, id bring them to the sink for a proper soap and water wash (esp after no 2)

good luck

Boudreaux Butt Paste. Diaper rash gone in almost one day. Expensive, but really really worth it.

Once we ran out of toilet paper at my house, so I used a baby wipe, it burned! So, I stopped using wipes and used wet paper towels(I got the ones that are soft). I would try that first.
