I have a 8 & 6 year old & 7 1/2 month old. These are the ages they will be when we go to Disney next month. We have already taken time off from work but I want to know what you all think about taking a baby this young. Is this something people do or will it be too hard? Also what are the best places for these ages?

I would personally leave the baby home with someone if you can. You are going to have to "switch off" back and forth with your partner when the other two want to go on rides and go into places that the baby can't go. You will be in effect not giving the older two the enjoyment of doing these things with both parents. We waited until our kids were about 6 and 8 to go and we left the baby home and I was glad we did. When she go older, we went back again as a family and she was able to enjoy everything with both of us just like the other two had before. I think the magic kingdom is great for this age group. Epcot is so-so for that age and if you can, I would definitely take a day for a water park if you can. The kids would love it. Animal Kingdom would is also geared to younger ones and MGM is a nice day for the whole family. We stay on property when we go so if they get tired, we take them back to the hotel, maybe go swimming and take a nap and then head back out. Enjoy!

Just got back from Disney World. In addition to all the people having a grand old time, there was a huge number of miserable babies & their equally miserable parents. I'd suggest 3 or 4 years to be a good age, even though they will still be tired & cranky by the end of the day. If it's just for a long weekend or maybe a week, can baby be left w/the grandparents? The rest of the family will have a much better time and baby will be spared the stress.

I just got back from there. Check out on the website in advance with the heights of your children. The website tells the heights restrictions on rides, so you can know in advance what ones they can ride in. Check out the Pirate and Princess Party for the young ones.

If you want more personalized help than the website can give, then call Disney Customer Relations. They were fantastic for us, but our situation was more with wheelchairs and disableds than children.

Find out what rides allow one parent to watch the undersized kids, but then get a pass so parents can "switch off", so the other parent gets to watch while the first goes (kinda like a fast pass) to the front of the line.

I think that taking a baby that young will not be too much of a hardship as long as you take stuff for the baby to keep self-absorbed, even though the scenery and stuff will be visually entertaining. Remember, though, some children can be frightened by walking large animals.

i have children who were roughly the the same age as yours when we went to disney last august. It was perfectly fine. the weather was the biggest difficulty as it was so very hot. But it will be quite nice when you go. The flight is the hardest part - make sure they give you seats at a bulk head and a travel cot. This means there are less people to get annoyed if your baby cries and your other children can get up and stretch their legs. There are baby centres at disney and on the mono rail they let you push the pram on (no having to fold away) though the tram in the car park you will have to fold the pram which is a pain. Also as for the rides they should let you que as a family then let one parent ride with the older children and then swap over for the other parent without having to que again. Make sure you get fastpasses as this will reduce waiting around. i would say epcot is the most pram friendly and animal knigdom the least. Seaworld is excellent for letting people with strollers access to special seating areas, with no queing and they have a new baby care facility. I would steer clear of universal studios as this is better for 10+ ages.Have a favbulous time!

You're brave! I would not want to take a baby that young. She will probably be frightened by all the big animated characters. She also won't remember this trip. Disney is something that is an all day affair. I would take my family to a destination where we could do short bursts of things and come back to the hotel when necessary without lot of hassle. If you are looking for something on a grand scale, Great Wolf Lodge's are hotels with huge indoor waterparks. Something everyone can enjoy (I'm sure there's a Mommy (or Daddy) & baby pool) and if the baby needs to leave the hussle and bussle, the other kids and one parent can carry on with the fun. Good luck!!

I see people take babies all the time either to Disney or on cruises, Carribean vacations.....I dont' think there is a problem with it as long as the parents can handle it and won't get stressed out. Obviously your vacation won't be the same as it would be without the baby so just make sure that you go with a positive attitude and if the baby is having a bad day, gets sick, cranky etc etc...don't get upset and make it ruin the rest of your time there. Just deal with it and keep a happy face. =)

It took me 35 years to get to Disney and I was as excited as my kids, ages 6,8,9,and 10. There's is so much to do for all, too much to even list. Be prepared to get exhausted hauling your 7 and 1/2 year old though. You'll want to go again when the baby is little older.

I've been to WDW many times. The most miserable, unhappy people there are the ones with babies and small children. I would not take any child until they can walk all day. You have to walk sooo much. An average of 10 miles a day! This is not my opinion...this is a stat that I read. Leave the baby if you can.

My parents took me to Disneyland when I was only a few weeks old! So anyone can take a baby if they really want to, no matter how old or young they are. :)
Just be sure to get your baby a hat to cover his/her face from the sun. Disney has tons of attractions for everyone - especially for your other kids. Check out this link, which specifically lists favorite attractions and entertainment for their age group:

I think you can have a great time. However, don't expect to do everything. You will need a slower pace...much slower. Even your older children can't keep up a hectic pace.
