Unlike most of the answerers on here, I've only heard of one major incident of a phone exploding and this was because the user had the device tucked away in the back pocket of her jeans for an extended time. Now the reason why it exploded was because of heat (plus this was a while back) Since you keep your phone clipped to the outside of your clothes and not in an unventilated pocket you should have nothing to worry about.

Yes i have also heard of not mobile but a laptop exploding. But dont worry now a days the phone makers are giving more importance to battery which is the reason for the exploding and it would be good to keep the mobile in ur pants and also dont put it in ur shirts pocket because if u do u will live for only around 25 years from the day u starts to put ur mob in pocket because the radiowaves is very very very high

Anything using a battery is in danger of exploding. How many times do you hear of a car battery exploding? The chances of having a cell phone explode are remote. If by chance it did happen it would not be a devastating blast. I doubt that it would even kill someone. Maybe leave a chemical burn, and some tears in clothing. My only concern would be that if it did happen, that it would not happen near my face while I was talking. It could be blinding.

Boy o boy,ur boys must really be watching dis,if ur garage door's open 4 'em 2 see.anyway, chances of ur fone blowing up in ur pocket n dem boys along means only 3 things-u got a fake/bad battery,d fone's been exposed 2 extreme heat n a bomb's been planted in it.Frankly speaking, dem chances are more likely with carelessness. What u n d boys should be afraid of is radiation supposedly emitted from 'em,not likely either cos it's damage in dis case...

Cell phone batteries have been known to explode or catch fire. It is not too common, but it does happen!!! Usually damage is not too severe, so clipped to your pocket is better than having it go while on your EAR!!! Beware of overcharging....AND OVERTALKING!!!! (Causing overheating.) While talking, the battery is facing AWAY from you, so the worst scenario is maybe a hot hand!!

I found evidence of less than a dozen such "explosions" (and mostly these weren't explosions, but cheap replacement batteries catching fire) out of millions of cell phones. This suggests you have a much better chance of being struck by lightning (~1 in 76,000) than you do of your phone exploding.

So maybe you should just keep the boys off the golf course!
