The movie starts with the song "Time is on my side" by the Rolling Stones and the first few lines of the movie go something like "let me tell you about the time I almost died" Have seen the movie before, but can't remember the name, it is driving me crazy.

I think it had Denzel Washington in it, he played the main character, Nicholas Cage was not in it.

It is a movie called Fallen, released in 1998. The song is throughout the movie. It does star Denzel Washington, he plays a homicide detective. It wasn't a bad movie, just not one of my favs.
