You can get married in the church without getting a marriage license from the state.

You are already committed to each other, why do you need a ceremony. You want to make it official yet you don't want it legal???
Why bother... if you have chosen to be together then make a pact between each other and go to the beach on a hill and exchange words. If you want to bring along some friends then do it.
It seems farcical to me that the ceremony seems so important to you.
Ceremony is just going through the motions.
Perhaps if you consider that fact you are happy and want to be together , that should be enough.
Why do you think marriage would ruin the relationship?
Are you going to stop loving another?
Are you going to stop being a good partner?
I think you have a preconceived notion that after the ceremony of marriage legally, they go sour.
You can't pigeon-hole all marriages and doom them to fail, that is not fair.
Each one should be looked at individually and realistically.
Marriages fail, because people stop trying, it is not the piece of paper.
If you two are really happy and want to be together for the rest of your life, have the real ceremony and don't stop being on a honeymoon.

have a big party..invite family and friends... stand infront of them and declare your love for each other in your own words...

as a personal editorial... what a freakin' cop out... "a piece of paper" didn't ruin your previous marriages... the commitment ruied your relationships... it choked you two to the point where you've convinced yourselves that it was a piece of paper that ruined your relationship? ohhh Puuuuleeeeease!!!!

Your "commitment" as shaky as it turned out to be... is what ruined your past relationships. Common law has all the legalities of a marriage... without the commitment... sounds to me like you two live for the romance and once the honeymoon phase of the relationship is over... so dies the relationship

grow up... both of you...

Yes, absolutely. You can have a love ceremony where you stand before your friends and family and proclaim your love and have a party, without any of the legal implications. I'm not ure where you live but probably there are people you can hire to hold the ceremony. Otherwise, get a friend to do it.
I hope you enjoy

You can perform the marriage ceremony all you want, without a marriage license it's not legal. Therefore, you can say your vows to each other, and not have to worry about legal ramifications.

just live together --- that will be the commitment to each other ---- and the piece of paper is meaningless but its your perception that may be the problem --- that piece of paper did not cause your problems ---- so they may reoccur if you dont work at the relationship

Dah, marriage is a social and legal contract. If you want, get married in the "eyes of the lord". it'll save you more in divorce court.
