I has been said that a compliment can work wonders. Self esteem is a learn feeling. With each accomplishment the person achieves, praise should be shown for the accomplishment. If struggle and defeat happens, one should never put the other down but to build up the person and explain the errors and ways to correct them. Then reinforcing the praise once each hurdle is jumped. One harsh word can fall a 100 praises so be very careful.

Praise them every time they do something well. Get them to engage in something you know that they can do well, and afterwards when they complete the task. You can also compliment them in other ways.

a lot of praise and compliments. make them feel like they are worthy of something. a lot of times they lack attention and wish they had it. maybe if it's a girl take her to get something girly done to herself like maybe her nails that makes her really happy she'll be more confident. if it's a boy idk maybe let him win in a game of one on one bball. you get the idea hopefully.
