Carbon is nice. Tin and Lead have their symbols, Sn and Pb from Latin.
But Iron makes up a huge percentage of the whole earth and gives us steel for buildings, cars, and tools. Silicon makes up a huge percentage of the surface of the earth and gives us glass, beaches, and solid state electronics. Iron gave us the industrial revolution and silicon the electronic revolution. Most interesting.

Well, that depends on what you regard as useful or interesting.
H, 0 2., and C are some of the most frequent. Useful for atomic energy are Uranium and Putonium.

Hydrogen because it is responsible, via nuclear fusion in starts, for producing every other element in the universe.

Tin, for two reasons. It's the only element that is the name of a wizard of oz character, and its symbol, sn, doesn't make sense.

This is open to debate and opinions. however if you go thourgh schooling you will always find that Carbon is the most critical of every compound that is associated with life functions. So "carbon" in my opinion is most useful and interestin.
