it's when the red light is almost done. my parents always scoot up a couple feet then go. why is that??

actually it activates the signal just like putting your high beams on does the same thing.Cab drivers trick.

Some people might do it so that when the light goes green if they are planing on stepping on the gas hard if they are moving then they are less likely to burn out or not burn out as much but for the most part its anticipation or the lack of natural speed to be able to beat people off the line when the light goes green with out rolling forward first
