I have a copy that I am thinking about reading. It seems very concise and informative. Has anybody read it and can say good or bad about it? Was it objective and informative about everything?

Hi James,

Wells' "Outline" is a very biased, old-fashioned, 19th century socialist interpretation of history as class-struggle. It is important, perhaps, as a historical document about how some people thought about history; but it has no real merit. It's biases and glaring inaccuracies make it useless as a modern model.

My father had a copy and I tried to use it for school work. (I'm going back a long time!) I never found it of any use whatsoever. I recollect it being subjective and polemical. Remember, Wells was an old fashioned, Fabian style, Socialist.

Its on my reading list but haven't got to it yet. I have read of it, that it is a weak history with little effort given to back up his assertions. Historians don't like it. But hay this is the guy that travailed in time til the crabs were attacking and the sun went black so he must know. hahaha
