This is a distraction from life's problems. Right now I have about 10 pressing issues, but they are so big, it's much easier to be here answering your question right now.
I have various other methods -- reading (that gets to be problematic, too, since I tend to use every spare waking moment readin the book du jour until I'm done in a couple days. I wish I could just savor the books. I also enjoy long, hot baths but with several kids they usually don't give me much time to totally relax in the tub before a knock on the door comes. I'm too sleepy myself by the time they fall asleep. Sadly, I have also noticed that I drink about a bottle of wine per week now -- quite likely an unhealthy habit forming which is clearly escapism, but in an unhealthy way.
I also spend lots of time fantasizing.. much more than I ever used to.
I used to eat a lot, but I kicked that habit to the curb. Maybe I'll trade in the bottle for a workout video.
Why don't we all just vow to tackle our real issues with more regularity? Then the need for all this escapism would diminish!!

Yes, the internet is form of escapism. We can ask questions, answer other questions and just escape the daily life.
Other forms for me are: watching movies, reading, sleeping, day spas and anything relaxing.

The computer is a great escapism. Another great escapism is a bath with those bath bombs that fizzle into a delightful flower petal aroma. That is the ultimate, inexpensive get away.
Awesome question!

my current work is in the computer...and i couldn't escape it :-(
Butl tell you what, before i open my scary deadliner file to start working, i "escape" by cleaning up the mess around, taking a long bath, arranging the books, calling up some firneds and before i know it it's time for lunch!
oh and of course answering these kinds of stuff :-)

the honest truth? video games. when I am stressed out or whatever, I play the games and it makes me forget why i was upset or troubled. Which is odd because I am so girly. Action games are whats recommended, dont play any fighting games because they make you more upset! lol i swear the game cheats!
